Company Profile

Founded in 2007, Emdot Limited is a spin-out from the Engineering Department of Queen Mary, University of London. Emdot has backing from three venture capital funds.

Emdot's technology was developed by Professor John Stark and his team. Professor Stark researched the electrospray process in relation to the micro-propulsion of spacecraft, and then applied it to inkjet printing.

Emdot works in partnership with customers to develop bespoke solutions to their problems or to develop new opportunities.

Mark Shepherd - Executive Chairman

Mark Shepherd has over twenty years in industry experience having been an inventor, founder and Director of Xaar plc (1990-2000) and CEO of 1Ltd (2000-2006).

Mark was one of three executives responsible for leading Xaar through a successful listing on the London Stock Exchange in 1997.


Professor John Stark - Chief Technology Officer

Professor John Stark is the lead inventor, founder, and Chief Technology Officer of Emdot.

Professor Stark retains his role at Queen Mary, University of London, where he is Professor of Aerospace Engineering.

Professor Stark had previous appointments at UMIST, at Southampton University, and at BAe Space Systems Ltd.

He is the author of over 100 peer reviewed papers.
